Chemical Peels
Chemical peels are skin-rejuvenating treatments that remove dead skin cells and stimulate the growth of new, healthy skin. This treatment helps to reduce age spots, smooth out skin tone, and improve overall skin texture.
Types of Chemical Peels
There are three levels of chemical peels, each offering different benefits depending on your skin’s needs.
Reveal Radiant, Rejuvenated Skin with Chemical Peels
If you’re looking for a treatment that refreshes, rejuvenates, and enhances your skin, chemical peels could be the perfect solution. Whether you want to brighten dull skin, reduce fine lines, target acne scars, or even out skin tone, this treatment works by gently removing dead skin cells and stimulating fresh cell growth. With different types of peels available—ranging from superficial to deep—there’s an option for every skin concern. At The Four B’s, we provide expert consultations to assess your skin type and recommend the most effective peel for your needs, ensuring beautiful, long-lasting results.
Superficial Peels
- Removes dead skin cells from the outer layer of the skin (epidermis).
- Left on the skin for just a few minutes.
- Skin may feel tight for a few hours afterward.
- Minimal downtime – regular treatments required for best results.
Medium Peels
- Penetrates both the top and middle layers of the skin for deeper rejuvenation.
- May cause a burning or stinging sensation during the procedure.
- Skin may turn red or brown in the days following treatment.
- Healing takes up to six weeks – treatments recommended every 6 to 12 months for maintenance.
Deep Peels
- Affects the deepest layers of the skin for dramatic improvement.
- Requires local anaesthetic and sedation for comfort.
- May cause peeling, redness, and swelling for up to two weeks.
- Long-lasting results – typically a one-time treatment.
- Not suitable for darker skin tones as it may cause skin lightening.
Risks & Aftercare
While chemical peels are generally safe, it’s important to be aware of potential risks. Some individuals may experience darkening or lightening of the skin, which in some cases can be permanent. If you have a history of cold sores, the treatment could trigger a recurrence. Although rare, scarring or infection can occur, but following proper aftercare significantly reduces these risks.
After your treatment, your skin will be more sensitive to the sun, so applying a broad-spectrum SPF daily is essential for at least a month to protect your fresh, new skin. Your practitioner will provide personalised aftercare advice to help you minimise any side effects and achieve the best possible results.
