What Are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are an effective and non-surgical treatment used to reduce deep lines and wrinkles, fill hollows, enhance sunken cheeks, and smooth the contours of your face. These fillers are especially useful for treating areas such as the lips, cheeks, jaw, tear troughs, and even for nose augmentation.
How Dermal Fillers Work
Dermal fillers are primarily composed of Hyaluronic Acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance in our bodies that helps to maintain skin hydration and plumpness. HA is a powerful moisture-binding ingredient that helps to keep skin hydrated, youthful, and firm. As we age, the amount of Hyaluronic Acid in our skin decreases, leading to the formation of lines and sagging skin.
The filler is injected into the targeted area of the skin using either a needle or a cannula technique, depending on the area and the desired results. These injections restore lost volume, fill lines and wrinkles, and provide a more youthful appearance.
The Treatment Process
During your free consultation, I will create a personal treatment plan tailored to your individual needs. I use various injecting techniques to target specific areas of the face and provide the most effective results. After cleansing the treatment area, I will apply a numbing cream to ensure you feel minimal discomfort during the procedure.
The filler is then injected in small controlled doses using an ultra-fine needle or cannula. The procedure typically takes no longer than 30 minutes, and you can resume your daily activities immediately after.

Dermal Filler Results and Duration

Results typically last between 6 to 24 months, depending on the area treated and the type of dermal filler used. The lips, due to their high vascularity, tend to have a shorter duration compared to other areas of the face.

Common Side Effects
While there is no recovery time required, some clients may experience slight swelling or bruising at the injection site. These effects usually subside within 48 hours but may last up to a week. As with all treatments, there are risks, and it’s essential to have your dermal filler treatments carried out by a trained and qualified medical professional to minimise the chance of complications.
