Aqualyx Fat Dissolving Injections
Aqualyx is a safe, effective fat dissolving injection treatment that reduces fat cells in the treated area. It produces long lasting results, which means you can banish those annoyingly wobbly bits.
Aqualyx can be used to treat small, exercise resistant, pockets of fat around the chin, chest, abdomen, thighs, knees and ankles. It is very effective for body contouring, but is not a treatment for weight loss.
What is Aqualyx?
Aqualyx is made up from a number of different plant based compounds that have been refined in a lab environment. Aqualyx dissolves the membranes of fat cells in the treated area. The fat cells become unstable and break open. The fatty acids contained within the cell are then eliminated by macrophages (part of the body’s immune system) and the liver.
Aqualyx the fat dissolving injection has an aqueous compound solution of 12alfa-dihydroxy-5beta-24-oico cholanic acid sodium salts which is a modified compound of Cholanic Acid also known as Deoxycholic Acid.
Present also in the human body, the active ingredient deoxycholic acid is used in the emulsification of fats for the absorption in the intestine. The naturally occurring acid is perfect for fat dissolving treatments such as intralipotherapy.
AQUALYX offers a treatment for patients who are looking to lose pockets of fat that are difficult to lose despite improving diet and exercise.
When AQUALYX is injected it works by liquefying the fat cells, destroying them permanently and releasing the lipids that are then eliminated and drained naturally via lymphatic system.
Aqualyx is completely biodegradable and biocompatible and has minimal side effects.
Is Aqualyx suitable for me?
If you are maintaining a healthy lifestyle and are close to your ideal body weight, but have isolated stubborn areas of fat then Aqualyx might be suitable. Popular areas that we treat are double chins, moobs, saddle bags, inner thighs, cankles and abdomen - including defining a six pack.
If you have significant weight then Aqualyx is not suitable for you, but other treatments we offer maybe such as the Saxenda weight loss injection. If you have recently lost significant weight then the area concerning you may be loose skin which we can improve with skin tightening treatments.
A free consultation will determine the correct treatment plan for you.
Aqualyx is not suitable if you:
-
Have diabetes.
-
Have liver or kidney disease.
-
Have active skin problem in the area to be treated.
-
Are taking blood thinning medicine e.g warfarin.
How soon do you see results?
The number of Aqualyx treatments required varies depending on the size of the fatty deposit. Typically 1-3 treatments for small areas, such as the jowls and under the chin, and 2-8 treatments for larger areas such as the thighs. Treatments are spaced at 6 weekly intervals. Your result will show 6 weeks after your final treatment which is when you will have a complimentary review with your practitioner.
Are Aqualyx results permanent?
Whilst the body can regenerate fat cells - the process is very slow. So once fat cells are removed from a localised area your results are as good as permanent. However, if you do not continue to maintain a healthy lifestyle then your body will put on weight in other areas of your body where fat cells remain.
What is involved in treatment recovery?
Immediately after treatment you may appear red and swollen with some bruising on the treated area. Aqualyx works by causing an inflammatory reaction in the fat cells which can result in swelling for 3-5 days. Therefore, if you intend to have a facial treatment, e.g. double chin where the swelling may be obvious, you may wish to organise time away from work or social engagements.
You will be able to reduce the swelling by using a cool pack wrapped in a clean cloth for a maximum of 20 minutes each day. You cannot use anti-inflammatory tablets for 48 hours after treatment as this will work against the treatment. The treated area may feel tender and firm for up to 8 weeks post treatment.
During recovery we recommend that you avoid:
-
Swimming pools, spas and saunas for 3 days.
-
Physical exercise for 10 days.
-
Any other aesthetic treatments for 2 weeks.
How do I know Aqualyx is safe?

Aqualyx has been given CE approval for use in the UK which means it meets the health and safety standards required by the European Union. Since 2009 Aqualyx has been used in over 2 million treatments in over 49 countries. It has a strong safety record supported by sound medical science.
